Urban sketching is rooted in en plein air and impressionism, where the artist draws and paints on location attempting to capture a moment in time. Urban Sketching is a global movement with groups meeting to sketch all over the world. Urban sketchers try to follow this Urban Sketching manifesto.

Spike’s approach is fast and loose with most sketches taking tens of minutes to no more than a few hours. Because life is short and there is a lot to draw!
